Phoenix Rise, a new British school drama, has been chosen as this year's MIPJUNIOR World Premiere. The series follows a diverse group of six teens as they navigate mainstream education after exclusion and form unlikely friendships. Each episode focuses on one of the six characters and the challenges they face in and out of the classroom. The series was created by Matt Evans and Perrie Balthazar, and was developed by the BBC Studios Kids & Family Scripted Development team. It will debut on BBC iPlayer in 2023 and global distribution will be handled by Sinking Ship Entertainment. MIPJUNIOR, the International Kids Screening & Co-Production Market, will take place on October 15-16 in Cannes, France, and will feature screenings, insight sessions, deal-making, and access to the MIPJUNIOR screenings library.
