Celebrity Stylist now Fashion Designer Carlton Jones creates a collection that spans the scale from gender fluid to the most masculine of men. Cascade collection was released on June 4, in New York City overlooking the city at the TWA Lounge for an intimate group of media, and socialites.
While New York may be the fashion capital of the world, make no mistake--countless designers are inspired by their travels around the world as you have heard repeatedly during interviews.
Carlton Jones is no different. While on his many trips to Asia and the Middle East; climate of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Morocco, and Turkey and culture of Beijing, Harbin, Tokyo and Manila, he became inspired by their style and how their garments were designed appropriately for the weather.
While the Middle East and Africa are known for extreme heat, modesty is very much embedded in the community. He took that into consideration, designing stylish looks that incorporated loose-fit, natural fibers, and ventilation.
“My clothing are very much Asian inspired hence the kimono jackets I have incorporated in my SS19 collection, in which I continue to utilize. After visiting the Middle East and Africa, I was further inspired and pleased to see the similarities of the long breathable Kaftans and the beautiful abayas/jalabas. My objective has always been to be "chic in the heat.".
Jones continues his creative problem solving, with his global influences and wearable sensibility. He’s definitely a believer that weather is not an excuse to be unfashionable.
