It does not matter which decade you are from. If you love cars, you will have a favourite Porsche. It may be air-cooled, water-cooled, a turbo or a hybrid, or a naturally aspirated Porsche. It does not matter. You will still have one favourite, and if you do not have one, I can guarantee you that your favourite Porsche is just around the corner.
Porsche has become an iconic brand, and its status is growing day by day. Old Porsches values are going through the roof, and some models have already received cult status. An interesting tidbit for you is that almost 70% of all 911s are still in working condition to date and are being used.
Obviously, a particular virus has had us all hiding under a rock for quite some time, but things seem to be coming back to some semblance of normalcy. And what other way to celebrate being back in action than a brand new event? Yes!! Porsche are having a brand new event in Dubai, and it is being called the "Icons of Porsche." It is a two-day event happening on the 19th and 20th of November. You can register on www.iconsofporsche.com to visit the event.
I had a sneak preview of the event, and you can see what a treat you are in for from the photographs and video. Here is what you can expect from the event. The Middle East's largest official Porsche gathering ever! The rarest of classic Porsches, concept cars and racing cars. The cars have been flown in from the Porsche Museum in Germany, and this is the first time that this has ever happened. It is also one of the largest classic car events in the region.
The entire idea lies around the concept is to build an event property for the future. The festival aims to bring and unite not only Porsche lovers but lovers of cars, arts and culture into one giant celebration. The festival will comprise four different zones The Unseen (concepts), The Library (heritage), The Yard (car culture, food trucks), The Studio (local and international contemporary art), The Garage (motorsport) and The Park (family-friendly, kids activities).
As such, there will be something for everyone. Cars belonging to private owners are also be shown. Rumour has it that it is going to be in the hundreds. The unique Porsche's that will be on display are the Porsche 356 "No. 1" show car, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster (1988), the Porsche 959 S (1987), the Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick', the Porsche 917 KH, the Porsche 919 Street, the Porsche Vision Spyder and the Porsche Boxster Bergspyder.
Porsche is not only a sports car maker with a 70-year history. It is a lifestyle. You choose that lifestyle. I am embracing the Porsche way of life, are you? If yes, then I will see you at the 'Icons of Porsche' event. Which Porsche are you falling in love with? Let me know in the comments.
